Bonsai Stand - Ancient Red Gum 24.5x19.7x15.2cm
SARG0153This stand is made from the best available Ancient Red Gum, carbon dated to between 5,000 and 10,000 years old. It was found in Victoria and you can learn about it starting here, https://everydayfutures.nma.gov.au/project/ancient-red-gum/. The top of this one is book matched and has beautiful figured grain. All solid construction. It has had about 8 coats of hard oil and varnish, then rubbed back with super fine sandpaper and given one final coat of the same oil/varnish before finishing with wax. You can maintain the finish as needed with furniture wax. Top is 24.5 x 19.7 cm and height is 15.2 cm. Measurements of the inside panel are 18 x 13 cm. I have taken my time making all of these Ancient Red Gum stands and it was quite a learning curve. Not like normal timbers - not in preparation and construction and not in finishing! They are more expensive than regular timbers as you'd expect, but I have chosen to kept the prices reasonable. Stands made of wood older than the pyramids!
